Mark's Insight into the Millfield Colours

Mark's Insight into the Millfield Colours

The Millfield colours are Blue, Green and Red and as you know we use these a lot in the summer, for example, each colour represents one of our campuses. I thought it would be interesting to find out the origins of the colours so I asked around the school but no one seems to know for sure. So, this is my best guess…

💙 Blue is the colour of the sky, it is also in “blue sky thinking” for which we are famous. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability and intelligence. Everybody always feels “blue” though when the courses are over.

💚 Green is the colour of the beautiful Somerset landscape, where you will find our three campuses - probably the best you can find in England! Green also represents growth and harmony. Our students are all a bit “green” when they arrive at Millfield for the first time, but not when they leave.

❤️ Red is the colour that symbolizes the heart. It is a “red letter day” when you arrive. Red also represents passion and adventure. As I always say to our students when they leave “Keep a little bit of Millfield in your hearts”.

See below for an explanation of what "blue", "blue sky thinking", "green" and "red letter day" mean.
