Job Vacancy : English Mentors

PLEASE NOTE: The closing date for the receipt of English Mentor Scholarship application forms is Friday 31st May.

Millfield Enterprises is looking for enthusiastic young people aged 10-17 to join international students on the Millfield English Language Holiday Courses (MELHC) through the English Mentor Scholarship.

The courses offer international students the opportunity to improve their English and experience all that Millfield has to offer. The scholarship programme was first introduced in 2012 to maximise the use of English among international students during the courses. This is encouraged through the friendships they make with mentors who model spoken English. The scholarship programme also enables mentors to learn about different countries and cultures, whilst helping them increase their confidence and enhance their own communication skills.

Along with the international students, English Mentors get to enjoy the school’s facilities and extensive social programme, with big events on-site including a rock festival and summer fete. They also attend twice-weekly excursions such as trips to theme parks and city tours. This is a fantastic way for children to spend part of their summer making friends from around the world.

We are looking for children with enthusiasm, a friendly and positive personality, a responsible nature and the flexibility and willingness to immerse themselves into the course.

Those who apply for the scholarship will need to be available for two consecutive weeks between Sunday 7th July and Sunday 18th August on a residential basis.

You can see all the fun and action of the courses on our website The Zone, which has photos and videos from previous courses: millfieldthezone.com

To apply:

Please return the English Mentor application form (please see Documents section below) to Zoe Barker at barker.z@millfieldschool.com

After submission a number of UK based applicants will be invited to a selection day which will include an interview and an opportunity to try one of the activities that will be running during the courses.

Any child who does not hold a British passport and does not reside within the United Kingdom, but would like to be considered as an English Mentor must comply with the criteria within the International English Mentor Scholarship Policy (please see Documents section below) to qualify. Any students who do not comply with any or all of the criteria shown within the policy cannot qualify as an English Mentor and therefore any application sent by that child will not be considered.

If successful with their application children will be awarded a scholarship place on one of our three residential campuses, attending the course free of charge. They will be expected to keep to the terms of their scholarship throughout the duration of their time on MELHC.

If you have any questions regarding the scholarship programme please contact Zoe Barker at barker.z@millfieldschool.com
