Job Vacancy : Events Technician
We are looking for an Events Technician to work with our Social Teams this summer to put on a wide variety of events. Millfield English Language Holiday Courses are well established and many staff return year after year.
The Holiday Courses consist of morning classroom teaching (taken by qualified teachers), followed by afternoon activities both sporting and non-sporting (taken by the activity staff) and an evening social programme (run on a rota basis with all staff and organised by the social team).
We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic member of staff who has the following attributes:
- Knowledge to operate sound and lighting equipment and systems
- Experience of working with sound mixing and lighting systems during live events
- Responsible and hard working nature
- Good communication skills with people at all levels
- Outgoing personality
- Driving license would be desirable but not essential
- First Aid qualification is desirable but not essential as basic training will be provided at induction
- Enthusiasm and willingness to get involved in all aspects of summer school life
As the Events Technician, you will work with the social team and ensure the smooth running of all technical aspects of the social programme. You will plan, prepare, operate and derig all of the technical aspects including sound, lighting, av/projection and staging for each event. Assistance will be at hand when needed. We are very fortunate to have access to state of the art facilities and have a very good relationship with a local events hire company for any extra lighting, sound or staging requirements. The ability to operate in house lighting and sounds systems is a must and basic training to familiarise yourself with the systems will be available during the induction.
You will be occasionally asked to provide technical assistance for events outside of the social programme.
Attendance at all relevant meetings is compulsory.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to go and work in the theatre/events/TV industry.
The course dates for summer 2018 are Sunday 8th July - Sunday 19th August.
Applications should be submitted by the end of March 2018.
Successful applicants will be invited to interview in April 2018.
Compulsory Induction training is immediately prior to the start of the course (paid pro rata).
The Events Technician contract will initially be for four weeks. All contracts are extendable by mutual consent and dependent on student numbers up to a maximum of six weeks.
The Events Technician will have one day off per week. Special requests for additional time off are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Competitive salary, free food and accommodation, plus holiday pay which is calculated at 12.07%.
