English at Bruton

Providing our students with a good quality learning experience is our main aim, therefore on all of our courses we provide 15 hours of English tuition per week.

New for 2017, Bruton will be the ideal campus for those wanting to explore a range of activities and learn English without having to follow a strict structure.

Instead of English lessons in the mornings followed by academies in the afternoons, students will follow a new flexible timetable where they will decide when they would like to take part in academies and when to attend English classes, lectures and workshops. There will be full flexibility so students can try a variety of different academies at any point throughout the day without having to preselect them, yet will still partake in 15 hours of English per week.

This new structure will enable students to have more freedom of choice and allow them to use their language skills in practice as well as in the classroom.

All teaching materials are provided and are included in the cost of the course. On successful completion of the course, all students will receive an academic report, general report and course certificate.

Course & Vocabulary Organiser

Each student will receive a Course and Vocabulary Organiser, written by Mark Greenow, which is an essential part of the academic programme and used in every lesson.

It is a “thinking notebook” with sections for each part of the English learning experience.

It also includes a diary, which students are encouraged to complete, vocabulary and grammar exercises, and a minidictionary making each student’s learning experience unique.

English Mentors

Young mentors guide, support and help international students to develop friendships and model native spoken English. They are residential and take part in all lessons, activities, excursions and social events.
